Back South

Made it back to Guerrero without incident.  A bittersweet trip back after my DNF at the Rocky Raccoon 100.  This is the second DNF at a 100 mile distance in my life and like the first one it is tough to deal with.

The rain and the mud was the single most challenging factor for me.  It was not a fun day, period.  I forget which loop it was that I was one, I think the second, and after a break in the rain I was in the bottom of this little open but low-lying area when the rain just started coming down hard again.  It was a scene too reminiscent of Southeast Asia for my liking and after making that connection there was no more fun.

So after the second loop I called it and turned in my chip.  I could not see any reason to stay out there any longer than I had to suffering in the mud and rain and crap.  There was a day once where that was my job and I loved it.  Now,  not so much.  I got a DNF but I didn't get injured so I can train still without limitations.

I get some time off next week so I will be certain to take some pics and write some more.

Adios!
